The Great Wall of Gubeikou
Gubeikou Great Wall is located in Miyun County, 120 kilometers away from downtown Beijing. It is composed of two parts.The main part of the Gubeikou Wall was first built in the Ming Dynasty 1368A.D., while the other part was built in the Beiqi Dynasty 550 A.D.. This section is the most intact and well preserved,original section of all the sections in Beijing. You can feel the vicissitude of history here, more than that, those bullet holes and damages will take you back to the past when flames of war raging everywhere. We start at 8:00 am. After about 2.5 hours driving, we get off at Panlongshan scenic spot , 20 minutes walk in the valley, go straight up along the hillside to Haowang Watch tower. 1.5-2 hours later,we arrive at the highest place of this section of Great Wall –the 24 Hole Guard Tower. Then we walk back to General Tower, If you want to go farther, you will need two more hours after General Tower and walk down to the village ,have a lunch in the local farmer’s house
Gubei Water Town
After lunch,It takes 15 minutes drive to Gubei Water Town, where is a rare natural old town witha combination of mountains, water and ancient dwellings. With a history of thousands of years, this town possesses an old-fashioned simplicity and elegance. Row upon row of houses, old quartzite streets and long Hutongs characterize the style and features of the old town
