To start the tour our native local tour guide will provide a basic introduction to San Miguel, from its pre-Columbian period to the present day. We will talk about the native groups of the area, the Spanish foundation by a Franciscan monk, and its evolution throughout the viceregal period. We will also learn when and how San Miguel became an international tourist destination and why it is called "The Best City in the World."
This building is considered a masterpiece of Baroque art. It was built during the golden age of San Miguel by a wealthy Spanish family. It is the birthplace of Ignacio Allende and now houses the historical museum of the city. Here, we will talk about Captain Allende, his importance to the history of the town, and his role in the Independence Revolution of 1810. After this, we will walk down Aldama cobbleston street, one of the most beautiful and awarded streets in town. Along the way, we will visit some of the charming rooftop terraces to enjoy the views of the city
First, let's visit the main church of San Miguel, built in the seventeenth century in a Renaissance style, and whose facade was renovated in the 1880s by a local stonemason. Here we will learn about its religious art pieces, the monumental organ pipe, and the important citizens and historical eventos of San Miguel.
