The tour will cover the key highlights of the museum, including the Sistine Chapel and the Apostolic Palace in Vatican City, the official residence of the Pope, also known as the Cappella Magna. This name was given by Pope Sixtus. The chapel was built between 1473 and 1481 and later dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Between 1508 and 1512, under the guidance of Pope Sixtus, Michelangelo painted the chapel's ceiling. From 1535 to 1541, Michelangelo also painted The Last Judgment on the Sistine Chapel's altar wall. The Sistine Chapel, being the most significant part of the tour, showcases works by Renaissance painters such as Sandro Botticelli, Pietro Perugino, Pinturicchio, Domenico Ghirlandaio, and Cosimo Rosselli.
