The Kami (God) of Shirataki has been trusted by local people as a god of natural faith for over 1300 years. It is a sacred place where trainees stand below waterfalls to purify their mind and spirit. The whole forest connects with the Kami and is still loved by the locals as a “Forest for prayers” for the last 1000 years.

It is the only spot in the Ise-Shima region where you can experience Takigyo meditation. The Meaning of Takigyo Meditation ・ Wash away idle thoughts ・ Discipline the mind ・ Look towards God ・ Connect with nature ・ Pray for your own wishes The guide speaks Japanese, but you can understand it with the materials it shows. With good access to transportation, and equipped with restrooms, lockers, and hairdryers, both men and women can enjoy the experience with peace of mind.

- For men: Funaboshi (loincloth), and hachimaki (headband), both of which you can keep.
