It was built on the site of an earlier temple commissioned by Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa during the reign of Augustus (27 BC-AD 14); then, after the original burnt down, the present building was ordered by the emperor Hadrian and probably dedicated c—AD 126.

We kindly ask you to arrive 30 minutes before the booking time to collect your audio guide. The St. Peter's Basilica audio guide is available in Italian, English, Spanish, and French from 9:00 to 16:00. (On Sundays 13:00 to 16:00) To retrieve the audioguide at the Pantheon and St. Peter's Basilica, you must provide an official ID (ID card, driver's license, passport). Photocopies or images on mobile devices will not be accepted. At St. Peter's Basilica, showing the voucher form we send is obligatory. The line can be 10/60 minutes long to enter the Basilica. In case of extraordinary events/closures of the Pantheon or St. Peter's Basilica, we will issue a partial refund.
