Walking along the streets of Bari Vecchia means immersing yourself in a very particular atmosphere among stony houses, arches, courtyards, votive shrines, noble palaces and not, among the smell of panzerotti and focaccia barese, meat sauce, meatballs and sgagliozze, the typical fried Bari-style polenta. We'll discover the origins, the history, stories and traditions of this enchanting city overlooking the Adriatic Sea.
Meet the guide in front of the Castle, learning about origins of Bari city; we’ll stop outside the Cathedral (ticket not included) and then we’ll continue among alleys, small squares and palaces of Bari Vecchia. In the heart of the historic centre we’ll meet Saint Nicholas Basilica, we’ll learn about the origin of the church and the worship of Saint Nicholas, beloved patron saint of Bari, whose remains are still resting in the underground crypt since the end of the year 1000 A.D Last stop will be Piazza Mercantile and Piazza del Ferrarese, which are today the centre of the nightlife in Bari, and here are still preserved some monuments and remains.
