Giza

Situated on the Giza Plateau within Greater Cairo, Egypt, the Giza pyramid complex, also known as the Giza Necropolis, boasts an awe-inspiring ensemble of ancient wonders. Among its prominent features are the Great Pyramid of Giza, the Pyramid of Khafre, and the Pyramid of Menkaure, accompanied by their respective pyramid complexes and the iconic Great Sphinx of Giza. Constructed during the Fourth Dynasty of the Old Kingdom of Ancient Egypt, these structures hold profound historical and cultural significance. Located approximately 9 km (5 mi) west of the Nile River in Giza city and 13 km (8 mi) southwest of Cairo's city center, this site stands at the fringes of the Western Desert. The Great Pyramid and the Pyramid of Khafre, revered as the largest pyramids of ancient Egypt, have long captivated imaginations worldwide, becoming enduring symbols of Egypt's rich heritage. Notably, the Great Pyramid gained further renown during Hellenistic times.

Great Pyramid of Cheops (Khufu)

The pyramid complex of Khufu encompasses a valley temple, currently concealed beneath the modern village of Nazlet el-Samman. While evidence of diabase paving and nummulitic limestone walls has been uncovered, the site remains largely unexplored, awaiting excavation. Originally, the valley temple was linked to a causeway, though much of it was obliterated during the construction of the village.
