METAIRIE CEMETERY - Since 1872 has been named one of the most beautiful cemeteries in the country. Placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991. Oval shape can be traced back to its days as a race track. Became a cemetery after the Civil War in 1872. Final resting place of over 9,000 people. With over 130 Acres and more than 10,000 Above Ground Multi-Million $ Family Tombs of New Orleans most prominent people like, Al Copeland - Founder Popeyes Fried Chicken, Ruth Fertel - Founder Ruth's Chris Steak House, Tom Benson - Owner of the New Orleans Saints & Pelicans, Anne Rice - Vampire Novelist, P.G.T.
