NMMST is located on the east side of Keelung City-Badauzhi area. On the west wing of the museum, it is Badauzhi and Bisha fishing port; it connects to the Northeast Coast National Scenic Area which is a junction of Bihai Highway and Shen-ao Line operated by the Taiwan Railway Administration. In 1978, the Executive Yuan approved 12 major construction projects, and the NMMST was one of the central cultural facilities projects. It serves to promote the scientific knowledge of the general public.“Ocean” as the main theme, NMMST exhibits the relationship between the ocean and our daily life. Collections, exhibitions, educational programs, and research of NMMST promote the general public's understanding of the development and application of related marine science and technology, the development of marine culture in Taiwan, the ecology and revolutionary of marine life, and the relationship between human beings and the ocean. The facility includes a theme exhibition area, research, and landscape facilities. The theme exhibition area includes marine science and technology exhibition hall, aquarium, marine theater, etc. Currently, most research and landscape facilities, such as Chaochin Marine Research Center, environmental protection and restoration park, Badauzhi Park, are completed and open to visitors. All these completed facilities mentioned above are all integrated with the NMMST as a Coastal ecosystem experience in the park. In addition, it is located at the main hall area; the original Ba Douzi Peninsula and land separation waterway will reopen to reproduce the old Ba Douzi clean water lane style. The future museum will have a total of 10 exhibition halls. They are the children's hall, future hall, ship hall, deep ocean exhibition hall, science hall, deep ocean image hall, environment hall, marine products hall, cultural hall, and discovery center. Each serves its own theme and exhibition.
