Itinerary

Mt. Marathon

Climb up the steep but rewarding Mount Marathon Jeep Trail to emerge into a bowl immersed in lush greenery and steep peaks. While challenging, you will earn an outstanding view of Seward and Resurrection Bay. Along the hike, learn the history of the famous Mount Marathon Race (one of the oldest races in the U.S.!), the history of the town of Seward and information on the animals and plants you may spot along the way.

  • The trailhead is located on the corner of 1st & Monroe, an approximate 10-15 minute walk from downtown Seward. When parking, please note that it is a residential neighborhood, so be sure to not block driveways. A guide will be waiting for you at the trailhead if you need assistance finding parking.
