Batalha Monastery
Ordered to be built in 1386 by King D. João I as thanks to the Virgin Mary for the victory against Castilian rivals in the battle of Aljubarrota, this monastery was built over two centuries until around 1563, during the reign of seven kings of Portugal, although Since 1388, the first Dominican friars have lived there.
