The beautiful council building was built as a department store and goods handling centre as early as the 14th century. Not only was a new pope elected in this historic building, but a mysterious miracle also occurred here. A mighty house, five stories high, stands here at the fish market, once built in the 13th century by a powerful Konstanz patrician family. Supposedly, it was built from top to bottom – so it’s a miracle that it still stands!
