Itinerary

Take a stroll down Imbuga City Walk, a lively pedestrian street in the heart of Kigali. With no cars around, it’s the perfect place to soak up the city’s energy, enjoy a cup of Rwandan coffee, and check out local street art. You’ll pass by small shops, outdoor cafés, and vendors selling everything from crafts to fresh fruit. It’s a great spot to experience Kigali’s modern, laid-back vibe and see how locals spend their day.

Kigali

From our meeting point at Norrsken House Kigali, we’ll start our walk toward the Belgian Peacekeepers Memorial. Along the way, you’ll get a feel for Kigali’s clean, well-planned streets and modern architecture. We’ll pass by lively commercial areas, small local shops, and everyday city life unfolding around us. At the Belgian Peacekeepers Memorial, we’ll pause to reflect on the history of the 10 Belgian soldiers who were killed at the start of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. The site features a small museum and the preserved bullet-marked building where they made their last stand, offering a powerful glimpse into Rwanda’s past and its journey toward peace.

Biryogo has a lot to offer, and we’ll be there to take it all in! We’ll walk through its vibrant car-free zone, where locals gather at outdoor tea shops, the aroma of grilled brochettes fills the air, and the streets buzz with life. As we explore, we’ll pass through beautiful mural-covered streets, a showcase of Kigali’s creativity and culture. We’ll also stop by the Nyamirambo Women’s Center, where you can learn about the community’s inspiring initiatives and browse locally made crafts. Whether it’s sipping spiced Rwandan tea, tasting fresh juice, or just soaking up the lively atmosphere, this stop will give you an authentic feel of Kigali’s social and cultural heartbeat.
