During this immersive cooking experience at Kathmandu Cooking Academy, you’ll begin with a warm welcome and a traditional cup of Nepali Masala Tea. Then, with guidance from a local chef, you'll take a short market or shop visit to pick up fresh ingredients essential for Nepali dishes. Back at the academy, you’ll learn step-by-step how to prepare three authentic Nepali dishes — one entrée, one main course, and one dessert — selected from a diverse traditional menu. Of course, momo-making is a highlight, and you’ll get hands-on experience crafting Nepal’s most beloved dumplings, either vegetarian or chicken. Throughout the class, you’ll use traditional utensils and learn the cultural background and cooking techniques behind each dish. After cooking, enjoy a relaxed tasting session where you can savor the food you’ve prepared. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced cook, this class offers a rich cultural exchange and a fun, engaging way to explore Nepal through its cuisine. STARTER - Bara (Fried Lentil Patties)

A savory deep-fried patty made from ground lentils, lightly spiced and crispy on the outside, soft inside—popular in Newari cuisine.

STARTER - Chatamari (Nepali Rice Pancake)

A traditional rice flour pancake topped with spiced meat or vegetables, often called the “Nepali pizza” from the Newar community.

STARTER - Aloo Chop (Spiced Potato Patties)

Mashed potatoes mixed with herbs and spices, shaped into patties, and deep-fried to golden perfection—crispy and flavorful.

MAIN - Dal Bhat (Chicken or Vegetarian Curry)

Nepal’s national dish featuring steamed rice, lentil soup, and a side of flavorful chicken or vegetable curry with seasonal pickles.

MAIN - Momo (Chicken or Veg Dumplings with Achar)

Steamed dumplings filled with chicken or veggies, served with homemade achar (pickle)—a staple snack across Nepal.

MAIN - Thukpa (Tibetan-style Noodle Soup)

A comforting noodle soup made with seasonal vegetables or meat, flavored with Nepali spices—perfect for chilly days.

DESSERT - Yomari (Sweet Dumplings with Jaggery & Sesame)

Steamed rice flour dumplings filled with melted jaggery and sesame seeds—soft, warm, and traditionally made during Yomari Punhi.

DESSERT - Kheer (Creamy Rice Pudding)

A rich and creamy rice pudding made with milk, cardamom, nuts, and dry fruits—often served during festivals.

DESSERT - Carrot Halwa (Nepali Carrot Pudding)

Additional Information

Pickup is available only within the Kathmandu Valley. Please be ready at your hotel lobby 10–15 minutes before the scheduled pickup time. If your hotel is located outside the pickup zone, we’ll arrange a nearby meeting point or recommend the direct arrival option.
