Half-day Walking tour Hamburg

How to Get Around

180 minutes
English

Hamburg is the brightest and most underestimated city in Germany. We will retell his "thick medieval book of great names and events" in the style of a light adventure comedy with gastronomic accents, show interesting and photogenic places and give away all the city's secrets! You will see the main city sights from the most “postcard” angles and take a walk along the historical part of the port of Speicherstadt, standing on stilts right in the water. You will also learn about a large joint project of architects, urbanists and musicians - the modern residential quarter of HafenCity - and see the unusual building of the Elbe Philharmonic. Climbing up to the observation deck of the world's most technologically advanced musical facility, see all four sides of Hamburg: the historic center, the old and new ports, and the Elbe fading into the sunset

Itinerary

Speicherstadt

Speicherstadt is the world's largest warehouse district, in which all buildings are built on deep wooden foundations, in this case oak logs. Located in the harbor of the city of Hamburg; the total length is 1.5 km. Its construction began in 1883 and was completed in 1927.

HafenCity

Hallmark of HafenCity is the Elbe Philharmonic, whose facade is made in an unusual style, and the acoustic system is equipped with the latest technology. The area is also home to the Speicherstadt warehouse quarter, a 19th-century red-brick building. One of them has the only spice museum in Europe. In the quarter you can also visit the Museum "Miniature Wonderland" with the world's largest operating railway model. There is also a city port in Hafencity, and historical ships moored in Zandtor Bay contrast with cozy cafes near the water.

Elbphilharmonie

The Philharmonic was built in a historically important place: in the harbor of Sandtorhafen. In 1875, the largest warehouse in the port of Hamburg, the Kaiserspeicher, was built here. The warehouse held cocoa, tobacco and tea until the 1990s. The height of the 26-storey building is 110 m. The building is designed as a cultural and residential center, in addition to a large concert hall for 2100 seats and a small hall for 550 seats, the building houses a hotel with 244 rooms, 45 apartments, shops, restaurants and parking. On the eighth floor there is an observation deck open to the public. Every day, up to 17,000 visitors flock to HafenCity to view the city and harbor; this puts the Philharmonic among the most popular attractions in Europe.
