Embark on a 100% summer day and discover what makes the Arcachon Bay unique: its oysters and the famous Dune of Pilat.
If you want to escape the city for half a day, this tour is for you. With a certified local guide from Bordeaux, you will head towards the Arcachon Bay, one of the must-see attractions in the Bordeaux region.
You will learn everything about oyster farming in the region. You will stop at a local producer for a tasting before climbing the famous Dune of Pilat, the highest sand dune in Europe!
An unforgettable and exotic day!
After meeting your guide in front of the Cité du Vin, you will take the road to Gujan-Mestras in an air-conditioned 9-seater van. On the road (1 hour) your guide will tell you the history of oyster farming in the region and answer all your questions.
Our first stop will be at the port of Larros, in Gujan-Mestras, the oyster capital of the Arcachon Bay! We will go to a local restaurant offering fresh oysters from the bay. You will have the opportunity to taste up to 12 oysters accompanied by a glass of wine (white or rosé) while admiring the view of the port channel. For those who don't like oysters, shrimp, whelks or pâté are also available.
We will continue with the highest dune in Europe, the Dune of Pilat (100 meters high). After parking under the pines, you will climb with your guide to the top. The dune is equipped with a staircase, but you can also climb into the sand. At the top you will be dazzled by the panoramic view of the Atlantic Ocean, the Cap Ferret peninsula and the forest behind the dune. An unforgettable experience. To better enjoy it, your guide will give you some free time to explore the dune.
