The Great Ocean Road is a famous coastal highway in the southwest of Victoria, Australia, stretching 243 kilometers. Constructed between 1919 and 1932 by returned soldiers, it was built to honor Australian soldiers who died during World War I and is considered the world’s largest war memorial. Workers manually carved this spectacular road through rugged mountains and steep cliffs, overcoming tremendous challenges.
Today, the Great Ocean Road connects many iconic landmarks, such as the Twelve Apostles, making it a highly popular travel destination. Visitors from around the world come to experience its breathtaking natural beauty and profound historical significance.
