Balos Lagoon
A visit to one of the best beaches in the world is always a good idea. Balos lagoon is a natural paradise of crystal clear blue waters and white sand . At some points the waters are so shallow you can walk through to the other side and at other points you can enjoy a beautiful swim. Balos lagoon is considered a protected area by the program Natura 2000 as it contains rare flora and fauna .
Gramvousa Fortress
The Gramvousa island or its Greek name " Imeri Gramvousa" is another place we will visit during our tour.The island played an importand role during the Ottoman occupation of Crete and on the top of it there is the fortress of Gramvousa which was built between 1579-1584 by the Venetians. A walk up to the fortress will take about 20 minutes but its worth the while as it has the most magnificent view allover the place. For others who are not up for walking the small beach is always a good idea.
