Jvari Monastery, located near Mtskheta, Georgia, is a celebrated example of early Christian architecture and holds a revered place in Georgian history and culture. The monastery was built between 585 and 604 AD during the reign of King Mirian III. It was erected on a hilltop overlooking the confluence of the Aragvi and Mtkvari rivers. The site is linked to Saint Nino, who is credited with spreading Christianity in Georgia. According to tradition, Saint Nino erected a wooden cross here, which later became the focal point for the monastery's construction.
