The river Vez and the eco path that runs through it, is part of the list of Sites of Community Importance of the Natura 2000 Network (Ecological Network of the European Union) and is classified as a protected area, due to the relevance of its fauna and flora.
In turn, Sistelo was elected one of the “7 Wonders of Portugal” in the Rural Village category and, at the end of 2017, was classified as a national monument, as a cultural landscape. I don't see a better wonder for lovers of nature and hiking.

Porto
(minimum 2 people up to 4) If you enjoy nature, hiking, green wine and traditional Portuguese food, this is the tour for you. We will avoid getting up too early and avoid rush hour to pick you up at 9:30 am at your accommodation located in Porto or surroundings. We will have a trip of approximately 1:10h ahead to the beginning of the trail. But we can always stop in the charming little town of Arcos de Valdevez for coffee.
Vilela
We will start the walk on the medieval bridge of Vilela to the village that was elected one of the 7 wonders of Portugl. Delight in a virgin nature, an 11 km trail along the banks of the river Vez along fantastic paths and walks wich takes around 3 hours walking slowly. Along the way you will cross forests, see hermitages, granaries and superb natural landscapes. And of course, this trail is full of waterfalls and bathing opportunities. With this walk we become more silent, more relaxed, calmer and it is then that we begin to perceive the beauty of what surrounds us: the beauty of the trees, the water, the people, the beauty of life.
Sistelo
Once we reach sistelo, famous for its breathtaking terraces that gave it the nickname of Portuguese Tibet, we will have a well-deserved lunch with the typical gastronomy and of course, the region's green wine cannot be missing
