The tomb, which is the most famous structure of the Green Complex, was built by Çelebi Sultan Mehmed for Hacı İvaz Pasha in 1421. The tomb took its name “Green” from the blue, green and turquoise colored Iznik tiles, which are referred to in the literature as “Impossible to Produce Ceramics”.
It was built by Yıldırım Bayezid at the end of the 14th century and is the first covered bazaar built during the Ottoman Empire. The safe keeping of money and valuables, which is the task that banks undertake today, was fulfilled by covered bazaars at that time. This structure, which constitutes the core of banking and stock exchange, was used as a place where the most valuable goods in the country were bought and sold and where valuables were stored.
