Terceira is a unique island in the Azores archipelago. With a historical past marked by navigators, pirates, generals, kings and princesses. Its development stems from the unique natural conditions it offered to ships from the most varied trade routes in the 16th century. The walking tour aims to present the city of Angra do Heroísmo as the great commercial metropolis of the Atlantic. We will observe the urban and social evolution in an interactive way, with sensory resources through the point of view of a geologist passionate about history and the island. At the end of the experience you will be able to feel the city from the 15th century to the present day.
We will take a walking tour lasting approximately three hours, starting at the monument to D. Pedro IV and ending in the old square. During the walking tour, historical and urban aspects will be covered while we go up and down several cobbled streets. We will have the opportunity to visit monuments such as the church of mercy, cathedral, palace of the general captains and town hall.
