The Atlas Mountains stretch 2,500 km across Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia, separating the Mediterranean coast from the Sahara Desert. In Morocco, they are divided into three chains: the High Atlas, the Middle Atlas and the Anti-Atlas. The High Atlas, with its steep peaks and green valleys, is home to Mount Toubkal, the highest in North Africa (4,167 m). The landscapes are varied, from deep gorges to cedar forests, to arid plateaus. Traditional Berber villages are nestled here, offering a unique insight into local culture.
