English

Transfer by bus, with guide, from the agreed starting point to Syracuse. You will first explore the archaeological site, located in the north-western area of the city: here there are remains from the Greek and Roman era, first of all the Greek Theatre, from the 5th century BC, with one of the largest auditoriums ever built. From here it is possible to observe the ancient stone quarries which today host several lemon trees. You will visit the Ear of Dionysius, so called because it was used by the Tyrant as a prison for enemies captured in battle. You will see the Roman amphitheater and the altar of Ieron II. You will then move to Ortigia: the island preserves over 2,500 years of history, with remains ranging from Greek to Roman, and it is possible to recognize Norman and medieval buildings up to the marvelous Baroque-style cathedral. Here you can have your lunch overlooking the lagoon and, in the afternoon, treat yourself to a few hours of shopping in one of the most enchanting places in Sicily.
