The Summer Palace occupies 3.008 square kilometers, three-fourths of which is water, mainly the Kunming Lake at the foot of Longevity Hill. Its 70,000 square meters of building space features a variety of palaces, gardens, and other ancient-style architectural structures. Well known for its large and priceless collection of cultural relics, it was among the first group of historical and cultural heritage sites in China to be placed under special state protection.

After you arrive at the east gate of Summer Palace, you can access to the Summer Palace through the security check and by showing your QR Code. Summer Palace Schedule: • Peak Season: April 1st to October 31st (Monday to Sunday) - Last Entry is at 18:00 • Summer Vacation: July to August (Monday to Sunday) - Last Entry is at 18:00 • Slow Season: November 1st to March 31st (Tuesday to Sunday) - Last Entry is at 17:00 Please note: • This is pre booking service, the QR code will send 7 days before the tour date. • Passport name and number is required at time of booking for “all participants” upon booking • This ticket product offers you direct entry to Summer palace with the QR code.
It was built in 1750, and was known as the Hall of Industrious Government. Emperor Qianlong ruled that the halls where monarchs attended to state affairs would be named after them. After the rebuilding of the Summer Palace, the hall was renamed, suggesting that benevolent rulers would enjoy long lives.
Kunming Lake was built during the Qing Dynasty in the early 18th century and was initially named Wengshan Lake. It was later renamed Kunming Lake to commemorate the emperor's hometown, Kunming. The lake holds a special place inthe hearts of the Chinese people as it symbolises harmony and peace. It is said thatthe lake was built to recreate the West Lake in Hangzhou, which was considered themost beautiful lake at the time.
