With tall spires that seem to defy gravity, countless figures from both the human and natural world, the facades of Gaudí’s most ambitious project impressive and astound millions of visitors per year. Today, it’s the most visited building in Spain. Your English-speaking local guide, an expert in all things Gaudí, will share insider stories and anecdotes throughout your tour, truly bringing this iconic building to life.
Your guide will share tales of Gaudí’s love affair with his final work, how he considered the project his personal holy mission, and the great personal sacrifices he made to ensure its completion. Sadly, he would not live to see it finished. Such was the complexity of the design that despite taking on the project when he was just 31 years old. With “Skip The Line” access you will be whisked past the long entrance lines and straight into the heart of the Basilica. You’ll feel as though you have stepped into an alternate universe. Step through a heavy set of doors covered in hand-carved vines and find yourself beneath rows and rows of tree-like pillars that seem to reach up all the way to the heavens. Construction is famously ongoing and not estimated to be completed until 2026, and witnessing the this work-in-progress make us feel like we're part of history in the making.
You will make your own way to the meeting points
• We kindly ask our guests to be at the meeting point 15 minutes before departure. • Our City Wonders guides will have a City Wonders sign with the name of the tour at the meeting point for easy recognition. • This tour involves a fair amount of walking and stairs; comfortable shoes are recommended. • We regret to be unable to accommodate guests with wheelchairs or any impairments requiring special assistance. We are also unable to accommodate strollers or baby carriages on our group tours. • Entrance into the Sagrada Familia requires a strict dress code. No see-through clothing is allowed. Trousers and skirts must come down to at least mid-thigh. Visitors may not enter in swimwear. Visitors will not be allowed to enter wearing special clothing to celebrate any sort of festivities, nor with any decorations designed to distract or draw attention for artistic, religious, promotional or any other purposes. • Please note that large bags/tripods/umbrellas/backpacks are not permitted and must be checked into the free luggage storage area. Please do not bring these items as you may need to leave the tour early to retrieve them at the entrance. Only very small bags are allowed. • The organisation reserves the right to alter itineraries or close off areas of the Basilica for reasons of safety, restoration, maintenance, adverse weather conditions or occasional events. • We will do everything within our power to ensure timings and itineraries are respected; however, due to issues beyond our control, timings and sites are subject to last minute changes on rare occasions.
