The Sign of the Takahe is a historic rest house that survived the 2010-2011 earthquakes but required extensive restorations to preserve its integrity and charm. This building represents a vital piece of history and where you can enjoy scenic views. A 15-minute drive up Dyers Pass Road along Summit Road brings us to the next location.

We will stop at another historic stone rest house, the Sign of the Bellbird, for a snack. Here, you'll enjoy the breathtaking views of the Canterbury Plains and Lyttelton Harbour. A 15-minute drive brings us to the next location.

The Governors Bay Jetty offers a peaceful spot to enjoy beautiful views of the bay and surrounding hills. It’s a perfect place to relax and appreciate the natural beauty of the area. A 15-minute drive following the coast takes us to our next destination.
