Saint-Jeannet is a typical hilltop village in Provence, located in the Alpes-Maritimes, about twenty kilometers from Nice, between Vence, Gattières and La Gaude. It is nestled at the foot of the Baou de Saint-Jeannet, an imposing cliff that attracts hikers and climbers. Its location offers exceptional panoramic views of the French Riviera, stretching from the alpine peaks of Mercantour to Esterel, and on a clear day, to Corsica. The village has retained its authentic charm with its winding streets ("calades"), its plots and its medieval architectural heritage. It has long been a border village between Provence and the County of Nice.
The Vineyard Rasse (former Domaine des Hautes Collines de la Côte d'Azur) in Saint-Jeannet is the heir to an ancestral winery at the foot of the Baou. The Rasse family continues a unique tradition. The vineyard enjoys an ideal microclimate, at 400m altitude, facing south. It is famous for its "tiled wine", aged in glass canisters exposed to the sun. This ancestral method gives the wines (red, white, rosé) an amber color and complex aromas of dried fruits and spices. It is a natural wine of long-lasting age. Certified in Organic Agriculture, the estate grows a variety of varieties: Grenache, Mourvèdre, Rolle, Uni Blanc, etc. The Vineyard Rasse offers various cuvées: the iconic Tuilé de Saint-Jeannet, the Cuvée Longo Maï, the Cuvée Pressoir Romain, and fresher wines such as the Cuvée Principium. Sweet and sparkling wines complete the range. The estate is open to visits and tastings to discover this unique wine tradition.
