Edward Delaney's Famine Memorial
The Great Famine was a devastating period in Irish history when a potato blight led to widespread crop failure, famine, and mass starvation. The Famine Memorial consists of a series of bronze sculptures depicting emaciated figures, representing the suffering and anguish of the Irish people during the famine.
Designed by renowned architect James Gandon and completed in 1791, the Custom House was built to house the city’s customs administration.
The Spire is a contemporary architectural marvel designed by Ian Ritchie Architects and completed in 2003. It stands at a height of 120 meters (394 feet) and is constructed entirely of stainless steel.
