Your guide will meet you in your hotel lobby at 8 a.m. Enjoy the beautiful countryside on a 2.5-hour drive to the Mentougou District, approximately 70 miles (110 km) northwest of Beijing. Cuandixia, which means stove in Chinese, is a Ming village built between 1403 to 1424. Cuandixia Village contains about 70 well-preserved courtyard homes and houses approximately 30 families. Then head to the Tanzhe Temple, a Buddhist temple situated in the Western Hills, a mountainous area in western Beijing. Tanzhe Temple was built in the Jin Dynasty, and is one of the oldest temples in Beijing. Most of the existing buildings in the temple are from the Ming and Qing dynasties, and there are pagodas from various historical periods, such as the Jin, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties. Return to your hotel for drop-off at the end of your tour in the late afternoon.
