The Plaza de Mayo, foundational site of the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina, was born from the union of the Victoria and Fort squares, when a building called Recova Vieja was demolished in 1884, which separated them. It is located in the so-called Buenos Aires microcenter. In its surroundings there are several of the main monuments and points of interest: the historic Cabildo, the Casa Rosada (where the Executive Power of the Nation resides), the Metropolitan Cathedral, the Government building of the City of Buenos Aires
It is a historical monument considered an icon of the city of Buenos Aires built in 1936. It is located in the Republic Square, at the intersection of Corrientes and 9 de Julio avenues.
The Avenida de Mayo, located in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Monserrat, was the first boulevard that had the City of Buenos Aires, Argentina and the backbone of the historic and civic center of that city. He was born opulent and majestic and eventually became a symbol of Argentine-Spanish relations, and the scene of all Buenos Aires social manifestations. It was the first avenue of the Republic and of all of South America.
