Guinness Lake

A lake that looks like a pint of Guinness? Welcome to Lough Tay, a superb Irish lake in Ireland’s Wicklow Mountains National Park (Co. Wicklow). The lake is not only magnificent, it literally looks like a pint! Boasting a white sandy beach (which is surprising, by the way), Lough Tay has all the attributes of a stout glass: from the white foam to its dark color! It’s a really nice spot, ideal for admiring on a short hike or road trip!

Powerscourt Waterfall

Powerscourt Waterfall is located in the beautiful Powerscourt Estate near the foothills of the Wicklow Mountains. Ireland’s highest waterfall at 121m, it’s a popular tourist attraction near Enniskerry at only 5km from the main estate. Powerscourt Waterfall is a beautiful natural attraction set in the foothills of the Wicklow Mountains near the town of Enniskerry. Only 5km from Powerscourt House and Gardens, the waterfall is Ireland’s highest at 121m and has attracted visitors for over 200 years. Driving from the gate lodge towards the waterfall, visitors are surrounded by beech, oak, larch and pine trees, some of which were planted over 200 years ago. There are giant redwood or sequoia trees, native to California, that were planted at Powerscourt sometime after 1860.

Glendalough Monastic Settlement

Glendalough is home to one of the most important monastic sites in Ireland. This early Christian monastic settlement was founded by St. Kevin in the 6th century and from this developed the “Monastic City”. Most of the buildings that survive today date from the 10th through 12th centuries. Despite attacks by Vikings over the years, Glendalough thrived as one of Ireland’s great ecclesiastical foundations and schools of learning until the Normans destroyed the monastery in 1214 A.D. and the dioceses of Glendalough and Dublin were united. Close to the monastic city is the interactive centre. The centre features an audio visual and has a model of the monastic site on display. You will be welcomed by a friendly and knowledgeable staff where all your questions will be answered. Glendalough is one of the top attraction on Ireland’s Ancient East
