Korean Archery History and Culture:

Korean traditional archery, known as Gungdo (국궁), has roots that stretch all the way back to the 2nd century BC. More than just a method of warfare, it was respected for its precision and spiritual depth, playing a role in royal ceremonies and cultural expression. The traditional bow, called Jukgung, has a distinctive asymmetric shape that gives it remarkable power and accuracy. Today, Gungdo remains a cherished part of Korea’s heritage — a meaningful tradition that continues to connect people to the country’s rich history and cultural identity.
