The 20th century contains one of the saddest pages in Lithuanian history. In this tour you will experience the breathtaking Lithuanian spirit for freedom during the difficult and dark times of the Soviet occupation.
In the authentic former KGB prison, you will see the real tools of Soviet oppression, you will hear doors squeaking with pain, you will smell the coldness of torturing hearts.
Be invited to walk in the footsteps of Lithuanian resistance and feel the Lithuanian drive for freedom defended with bare hands and songs against the brutality of the Soviet tanks.
The tour starts in the center of Vilnius. You will see:
• Lukiskes square; • Lukiškių Prison; • Lithuanian Parliament (Seimas); • KGB Museum.
One of the main squares of Vilnius, known as the square of Lenin in the Soviet Union times. Nowadays, this square has been reconstructed in a modern way and there is no statue of Lenin anymore
We’ll pause outside the Lukiškių Prison, once a tsarist jail and later a KGB holding site, now a cultural space that still carries the weight of history.
The tour continues past the Lithuanian Parliament (Seimas), a symbol of restored independence and the scene of the nation’s defiant stand during the 1991 January Events.
