Two of the most important tourist centers in the city of Cusco are Maras and Moray. In these places, you can appreciate parts of our ancient culture through its different stages, including pre-Inca, Inca, colonial, and republican periods.
During the tour, we will visit the Salt Mines or Salineras, which consist of approximately 2,000 small pools fed by a salty spring that flows from the mountain.
We will also explore the Moray Archaeological Complex, a unique archaeological site in the region. It consists of giant natural depressions that were used by the Incas, who built agricultural terraces or platforms with irrigation channels, essentially creating a prototype of a greenhouse.

We will visit the Salt Mines, located to the northwest of the town of Maras. They consist of about 2,000 small pools, which have been exploited since the Inca period as a means of economic exchange and are still being worked by the locals today. It is said that the mountain holds salt mines inside, with a salty spring that flows from the mountain. During the dry season, this water is used to fill the pools every three days for a month, in a process resembling "irrigation," allowing the salt to gradually solidify. Later, the salt undergoes a process for consumption in the region.
We will visit the Moray Archaeological Complex, located about 7 km southwest of Maras and 53 km from Cusco, at an altitude of 3,385 meters above sea level. It is a unique archaeological site in the region. The site consists of giant natural depressions that were used by the Incas, who built agricultural terraces or platforms with their respective irrigation channels. It is essentially a prototype of a greenhouse. The largest depression has a depth of 150 meters, and the average height of the terraces is 1.80 meters, with space between each of them.
