A wonderful and pleasant country walk with a serene environment in the shade of massive Annapurna mountain range is waiting for you. See interesting mid hills villages of Gurung and Magar Poon tribe, people of Tibetan origin with Buddhist religion and culture with some blend of Hinduism traditions. Poon Hill Trek begins with a two-hour drive on the Baglung, Beni / Pokhara highway past Pokhara valley with grand views of Annapurna Himalayan range. The walking journey commences along Nayapul / Bhirethati. Trek along Modi River fed on the glaciers of Annapurna Himalaya. Cross interesting villages around the warm temperature zone with a mild climate. Walk through many traditional Gurung farm villages and terraced farm fields as the path heads to a slow uphill with a nice scenery of waterfalls and green hills. Poon Hill Trek leads on to the old Trans Himalaya Salt Trade Route.
The journey leads to stone steps to reach the village of Ulleri. The climate changes into a cool refreshing air and through an enchanting forested area lined with pines, oaks and the landscapes and vegetation changes into an alpine climatic zone. At a height of 2,874 meters, this walk brings you to Ghorepani with a stunning view of Dhaulagiri, Nilgiris and Annapurna South. Have an overnight in a lodge at Ghorepani. Hike in the early morning to Poon Hill, through a beautiful forested area of rhododendron. On reaching Poon Hill, the highest spot at 3,190 meters, marvel the beautiful sunrise over the range of the Himalaya. Following Himalayan peaks of more than 400 k.m. or 350° wide-angle see Annapurna I (8,091m / 26,545ft) Annapurna South (7,219m-23,693ft), Gangapurna (7,455m-24,457ft) and Annapurna III (7,555m-24,787ft), including Mount Machhapuchhre (6,997 m), the 7th world highest mountain. • Day 1: Kathmandu to Pokhara • Day 2: Pokhara to Tikhedhunga (1577m) • Day 3: Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani (2855m) • Day 4: Ghorepani to Poon Hill (3210m) – Ghandruk (1960m) • Day 5: Ghandruk to Pokhara via Birethanti (1040m) • Day 6: Pokhara to Kathmandu
