You will get a hands-on understanding of coffee production from beginning to end, including picking berries, processing, shelling, grinding, roasting, and brewing! Tanzanian peasberry coffee beans are treasured worldwide for their unique flavor and aroma.

If you like your cup, you can roast some coffee to take away as gifts for others. You'll also learn about the Meru traditions around coffee, and how it became a staple crop in the region.

You'll also learn about the work of our company, empowering orphaned and vulnerable children and families in the Meru region, and all proceeds will go to their support.

Itinerary

We will harvest fresh red coffee beans from bushes planted in the rich volcanic soil in the foothills of Mt. Meru, process them together using traditional methods, and enjoy a delicious cup of coffee at the end of your efforts! You'll also learn about the Meru traditions around coffee, and how it became a staple crop in the region.

  • Without a 4x4: From the Arusha-Moshi highway, you will turn up a paved road at Kilala - look for signs for Two Mountain Lodge and Kahawa. Go to the end of the paved road, then turn right at Nkoaranga Hospital. About 50m on, you will see a sign for the Pickup point.
