Itinerary

Saint-Jean-de-l'ile-d'Orleans

St-Jean features exceptional neoclassical architecture, a reminder of the economic prosperity associated with maritime life along the St. Lawrence River in the 19th century. St-Jean is also listed as one of the most beautiful traditional French-Canadian villages in the entire St. Lawrence Valley. The heart of the village recalls the importance of Catholic institutions and traditions in French Canada.

Sainte-Petronille

Ste Pétronille offers a breathtaking view of the St. Lawrence River, site of the most important naval battles of the British Conquest and, in the distance, the promontory of Quebec that Charles Dickens described as the "Gibraltar of America" in his story " American Notes" of 1842. The "New England" architecture of Ste-Pétronille dates from the 19th century, when Anglo-Canadian merchants fled the city to live safe from the cholera which struck the port of Quebec and Canada in the 1830s.

Quai De Sainte-petronille

Magnificent view of Quebec City, a reminder of the importance of maritime traffic in the history of Canada. Admire the perspective from which many newcomers saw Canada for the first time.
