Ridge scrambling is an exhilarating and hands-on way to experience the Cairngorm mountains. Unlike rock climbing, scrambling is about the journey. We'll select a route that will be challenging but achievable and is big on scenery and satisfaction!

On this immersive experience you'll get to climb one or more historic mountaineering routes; in a remote corrie, along an airy ridge or up sheer cliff face!

This experience is suitable for novices, beginners and travellers looking for a special experience in the local area. No prior experience of climbing or mountaineering is necessary and you'll be kept safe and encouraged every step of the way.

Our guides hold the highest attainable qualifications in mountaineering and climbing and are passionate about giving you the best possible experience. We are as excited guided complete beginners as we are guiding experienced climbers and we enjoy working with both the young and the young at heart...

We look forward to exploring with you!

What's included in Private Guided Ridge Scrambling Experience in the Cairngorms

(Subject to Option Inclusions)

Scrambling is essentially easy rock climbing, but draws on a broad range of mountaineering skills to safely travel through stunning mountain scenery. Join us for a grand tour of the vertical cliffs of the Cairngorms and experience some classic Scottish mountaineering! Your day begins in the morning when you meet your fully qualified Mountaineering Guide for a discussion about what to expect during the experience. They'll answer any questions you have and supply you with everything you'll need to stay safe. After a short drive, we continue our approach to the ridges on foot via established mountain paths. Our walk usually takes around an hour. On the way we'll see some great views and hopefully some rare wildlife. When you arrive below your climb, you'll be fitted with a harness and helmet and attached to your Guide by climbing rope. They'll lead the route by climbing ahead and securing your rope above you. Our Guides will keep you safe, provide advice and encouragement and take epic photos! From the top, we might decide to make our way downhill on mountain paths back to the visitors centre and our vehicles... or climb another route if time and energy allow!
