Less than an hour from Lisbon, we find Sintra, where you will discover Pena Palace, the work of D. Fernando II, a lover of Romanticism, the eccentric Quinta da Regaleira, with is unique architecture. While strolling through the tangle of alleys in the center of the village, you can stop at Piriquita and taste the delicious tradicional sweets. Sintra is known for its microclimate as it is located between the mountains and the Atlantic Ocean, so if the weather permits, how about a lunch near a beach? And visit Azenhas do Mar, a village nestled into the hillsides. The way back to Lisbon, its all along the seaside, stopping at the westernmost point in Europe, Cabo da Roca, and in the picturesque fishing village of Cascais. In the second half of the XIX century, sea bathing began to be normalized and when King D. Luis I made the Cascais fortress is summer residence, the nobility transformed the fishing village into a seaside resort with its palaces and palatial villas.

The Quinta da Regaleira is a decorative 20th century residence that is situated in the town of Sintra. The grand house is split over five floors and has an ornate gothic façade, but the real attraction is to the rear with the enchanting gardens. The gardens of the Quinta da Regaleira were styled to represent ancient secret orders, with hidden tunnels and concealed symbolism.
