We do value packed craft beer experiences for mates, colleagues and staunch beer drinkers alike.
OverBrew Brewery Visits are much more than just a boring walk-through. We pack value into the tour by systematically working through, in as much detail as your group prefers, the following:
Brewery Overview: Started when? Owned by? How different? Brewer: Profile? Started where/when/why? Ingredients: Water? Malt? Hops? Yeast? Other? Purity law? Recipes? Equipment: Mill? Mash/lauter tun? Kettle? Fermenter/Unitank? Filler? Labeller? Processes: Malting? Milling? Mashing? Lautering? Cooling? Fermenting? Beers: Styles? Brewery beers described and categorised?
After Brauhaus, we transfer to Black Horse. Here we do two tours! First is a tour of the brewery which also has a female Brewster: Nuschka Scheepers. After that, we visit distiller Marius Bezuidenhout’s craft distillery. After Brauhaus, we transfer to Black Horse. Here we do two tours! Remember, don’t drink and drive!
Next, we are off to the Brauhaus Afrika Brewery, just down the road. The brewster, Imke Pape, is self-taught and very highly regarded by those who know! With guidance from your Beer Host, experience a fascinating brewery visit. After the instructive brewery visit, we chill out on the Brauhaus Afrika deck with its magnificent views. We take you through an informative tasting of the German-style beers. All OverBrew Tasting sessions add value by pondering: • Temperature: Different beers are best at different temperatures. • Location: No other strong odours in the vicinity. No smoking! • Glasses: Special tasting glasses recommended. No beer mugs! • Perception: Does the beer look like its style? • Look: Make a judgment on colour, clarity, foam… • Smell: Sense the aromas. • Taste: How to do it in small sips, beer flowing over the tongue! • Nibbles: After each sample, “neutralise” the palate
To get the ball rolling, our first stop is a quaint community drinking hole, the iconic Old Post Pub. Here, meet local brewer, Roeks Griessel who will talk about his beer history and lead you through an early- morning tasting! If you want, taste some “indigenous” Mampoer. Charismatic locals are likely to add to the experience!
