Zaodo
Standing at the heart of Yoshino, Kinpusen-ji’s Zao-do is one of Japan’s largest wooden temples. Its immense cypress-beam structure rises from the mountainside like a fortress of faith. Inside await three colossal statues of Zaō Gongen, the fierce blue guardian-deity of Shugendō.
