Our Take a Llama to Lunch brings two gentle, wooly llama companions as you trek through the stunning landscapes of Staunton State Park. Your calm hiking buddy will carry all the gear while you soak in sweeping mountain vistas, serene pine forests, and wildflower meadows.

Your 3-mile journey winds through the historic cabins of the Staunton’s homestead where your guide will share about Colorado life in the early 1900s. The trail leads through a wildflower-filled meadow where the Ute and Cheyenne lived for thousands of years. You’ll pause at the scenic Davis Ponds for a gourmet picnic lunch featuring fresh sandwiches/wraps, trail snacks, and refreshing drinks. Your experienced guides will share fascinating llama facts and local wildlife knowledge throughout this special experience.

Your guided llama lunch takes you on scenic trails through Staunton state Park with 2 llamas. Highlights: - Enjoy a unique and fun way to discover the beauty of the Rocky Mountains - Eat a tasty picnic lunch overlooking picturesque mountains and ponds - Learn everything you need to know about friendly llamas from your experienced guides - Traverse picturesque trails, meandering through pine forests and open meadows - Discover homesteading life in the early 1900s at Staunton Ranch - Safety-conscious guides are knowledgeable about local flora, fauna, and lore. LUNCH: Your mouthwatering picnic lunch includes: - Vanilla bean lemonade and water - Salsa and chips - Your choice of wrap: chicken caesar, mediterranean veggie, southwestern black bean and corn, or peanut butter and jelly on a flour tortilla (gluten free tortilla option available) - Sweet kettle corn popcorn Other dietary restrictions may not be able to be accommodated. Meeting Points

  • This is the parking lot for the US 285 & Mountain View Park n Ride. It is on the west side of Highway 285. Look for the white truck and white trailer that says "Wonder Meadow Farm." You'll follow us in your vehicle to the entrance of the state park so you don't have to pay the entrance fee.

End Points

  • This is Staunton State Park! You can leave or stay longer in the park at the end of your guided llama lunch and hike.
