Delve into Chinese culture and learn how to make delicious dumplings in Hangzhou. This 1.5 hour workshop teaches guests how to make traditional dumplings from start to finish. You can also make healthy vegan and vegetarian versions with your host and learn the techniques needed to recreate the recipes at home with any fillings that you’d like. Then sit down to the fruits of your labor and enjoy a delicious meal.

What's included in Learn to Make Dumplings in Hangzhou with a Chinese Grandmother
(Subject to Option Inclusions)This is a unique opportunity to visit the home of a local and explore traditional culture and cuisine. In your 1.5 hour cooking class learn to make meat or vegetable dumplings or xiao long bao (soup dumplings). This is a hands-on cooking class with Yilang and his mother or grandmother. First learn how to make the dough, then proceed to learn the Chinese chopping method and stir-fry techniques to prepare a quick and easy filling recipe, that you can easily recreate at home. Finally learn to shape and steam your dumplings. After your cooking, join Yilang and his family at the table to enjoy the meal you helped prepare. If you select the market tour option, you will visit aa grocery store in Yipeng shopping mall. This is not a traditional open market, but a visit to a grocery store in a mall where the locals shop for their vegetables, fruit and meat. The produce here is fresh, local and seasonal. Yilang will introduce you to spices, vegetables and herbs used in Chinese cooking and his favorite vendors. It is a 40 minute tour. For groups up to 5, you will drive to the market and back in Yilang's car. And if there are more than 5 people, Yilang will arrange for an additional taxi.
