Kanheri Caves
The journey to Kanheri caves is about 60 km from the city centre and may take up to 1.5 hours. The drive goes by the Sanjay Gandhi National Park's forest, heading deep into the forest to reach the Kanheri Caves. The area as over 100 Buddhist caves to explore and this collection of caves and rock-cut monuments is known as the Kanheri Caves. One of the bigger cave also houses the Stupa, congregation hall supported by huge stone pillars and a dagoba or Buddhist shrine. The drive back to Mumbai city will start in time to reach back by lunchtime.
