Our Favourites

About Us: More Than A Museum The Indian Heritage Centre (IHC), opened in May 2015, is a vibrant reflection of Singapore’s Indian community, shaped by the voices, memories, and contributions of its people. Our five permanent galleries showcase a diverse collection of artefacts—treasured heirlooms, family photographs, diaries, and jewels—offering a rich narrative of the Indian community’s journey in Singapore.

Visitors begin their experience in the 1st century, highlighting early interactions between South and Southeast Asia. The story expands across multiple threads, tracing the Indian diaspora’s global reach and the significant contributions of Indian Singaporeans to the island's cultural, social, and economic fabric.

To enrich your visit, we feature virtual guides and interactive gameplay, creating a dynamic and engaging experience. Ongoing research adds fresh insights to our exhibits, ensuring each visit offers something new.

More than just a museum, IHC is a cultural hub within the National Heritage Board’s ecosystem. We host a range of activities throughout the year, from performances and workshops to symposiums, masterclasses, and festive celebrations. IHC is a place for visitors to connect with and celebrate the heritage of Singapore’s Indian community.

About Our Building Our 4-storey building is an architectural gem that blends history and modernity. Its facade is inspired by the baoli, a traditional Indian community well with steps leading down to water. This design invites visitors to “walk in the footsteps” of past generations as they explore our galleries.

By day, the building reflects Singapore’s skies and vibrant surroundings. At night, it transforms into a glowing mural of Little India, celebrating the colorful streets of this iconic district.

Visit the Indian Heritage Centre to discover our exhibits, engage with dynamic programming, and celebrate the rich legacy of Singapore’s Indian community.
