Today the feature of the district has changed since many professionals came to live here appreciating very much the lively atmosphere of the district and the many excellent roman cuisine restaurants , pubs and cafe. Recently has opened a very modern market becoming the most popular attraction of the district. As for myself, I decided to live in Testaccio for its authentic roman spirit and been an archaeologist for the fascinating roman ruins populating the district, such as the ancient roman port of Rome along the Tiber river that I will share with you!

You will visit tthe several warehouses of the district where the romans deposited goods such as wine and oil, nad grain in big jars or amphoras. The ancient Roman port on the Tiber river. - Visit to the Monte Dei Cocci , the hill of the sherds where the amphora sherds were implied to form a proper hill of the sherds. - Visit to the pyramid of Caius Caestius, that was the cemetery of the ominous censor Caisus Caestius. - Finally the cattle market of Testaccio. Built in the early 900, this the oldest cattle market of Rome. - After the walking tour we will take a walk into the new market area of Testaccio to taste the genuine homemade traditional Roman cuisine dishes prepared with great care by the many vendors of the street food stands of the market. ** This tour can be customized, please contact me.
