Walk in the steps of the Prussian immigrants (who established this village in 1839) during a 90minute walking tour.
Enjoy an experience with stories to match the time of night and atmosphere. This is not a ghost tour but you will be visited by several heroes of the village using modern technology.
Visiting historic locations in the southern end of the village the Germanic architecture will be explained. The immigrants flee from Prussia in 1838 which was perilous and full of drama. You’ll hear stores about these settlers as well as the Pioneer Women’s Walking Trail which was a nightly event commencing at midnight. Information and fun facts you won’t know without a local guide.
What’s to be found under the ‘ol pear tree? It’s not what you expect.
This is where you will enjoy your meal prior to the tour. Occasionally there is live entertainment on Thursday, Friday or Saturday but this is not assured. This is the only place where you will have toilet facilities so please make use of them if needed before the tour component of your experience. There are several murals inside the facility and an original painting of the very famous Australian landscape artist, Sir Hans Heysen is able to be viewed along with some of his other artwods.
This is the location where you will hear the story of the immigration of old Lutherans and their flee from their Prussian King. A story of courage, determination and strong faith.
Learn about germanic architecture, what materials were used, construction, changes in style etc at 2 or 3 locations depending on availability. Pioneer Womens Walk history This is not a ghost tour but there will be visits using electronic means by three special local historic characters during the tour.
