Pyramids of Giza
The Pyramids of Giza are one of the most prominent symbols of ancient Egypt, showcasing the skill of Egyptian engineers. Located on the Giza Plateau near Cairo, they include three main pyramids: the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the Pyramid of Khafre, and the Pyramid of Menkaure. The Great Pyramid of Khufu, known as the largest and oldest, stands at 146.6 meters (481 feet) and was built around 2580–2560 BC using approximately 2.3 million stone blocks. The Pyramid of Khafre, slightly smaller, features intact casing stones at the top and is located near the famous Sphinx, believed to represent Khafre himself. The Pyramid of Menkaure is the smallest, at 65 meters (213 feet), and has a unique design. Visitors can explore the surrounding area, including temples and the Sphinx. Guided tours provide insights into the history and purpose of these structures. This stop will let you see the Valley temple of King Khafre where the MUMMIFICATION PROCESS was taking place and you will see the hole where the breathtaking diorite statue of Khafre was found.
