Gallery Doria Pamfilij is one of the world’s major private collections. It was started in the 17th century by Pope Innocent X Pamphilj, continued by his descendants. Doria Pamphilj Palace, a historic mansion and art gallery in the heart of Rome, is a treasure trove of dramatic Italian history and priceless art. It houses the Galleria Doria Pamphilj, an incredibly opulent and valuable art collection housed in the private home of the Doria Pamphilj dynasty, a series of statesmen and powerful aristocrats.
Most of the works are still hanging in the places selected by the original collectors; many are famous masterpieces. Among the Italians: Titian, Tintoretto, Correggio, Raphael, Caravaggio, Carracci… Among the foreign masters, the most important are Velazquez, Rubens, Claude Lorrain, Velvet Breughel and many other important artists of their era.
